Here we are again BHabes, navigating a second lockdown, and with the clocks going back and the colder, darker days, looking after ourselves and not just our loved ones is going to be really important!
So, here’s a list of ways of how you can practise self-care:
Eat healthily and mindfully
Allow yourself to indulge in a meal without any distractions, you wouldn’t work on the computer whilst eating with loved ones so show yourself the same level of respect and don’t eat whilst glued to your computer at your new WFH desk. And, we’re not ones to judge, we all love some chocolate now and again, but mix it up with some healthier choices to have you feeling and looking great.
We know what people say about exercise and endorphins is true; getting active increases feelings of happiness. So, finding a form of physical activity that works for you can do wonders! Go for a hike, do some yoga or go on a bike ride. You don’t have to go to the gym to get active!
While a lot of self-care practices focus on your inner-self, nothing beats some indulgent pampering of your outer-self too to boost your overall wellbeing. Set a bath, pour some wine, apply DEEP to your hair and relax for 40mins then rinse.
Unplug and unwind
How many hours a day do you spend on your phone? Check your screen time sis! These days, it feels like everyone’s glued to a phone or laptop. Whilst you may feel the need to constantly keep up on social media or check what is happening in the news, taking a break from social media and technology in general can help us recharge and gives our brain the downtime it needs.
With such busy lives and so many things to think about these days, expressing a little gratitude for the things that you have can often be overlooked. Keep a journal by your bed, and note the things that you feel lucky to have.
The most important part of self-care is to be kind to yourself. Don’t punish yourself for not going on your morning run or being too busy to sit down with a book.
It’s more important that whatever self-care activities you choose are maintainable and beneficial, rather than feeling like a chore. So, if you go for a day of self-indulgence and don’t do any exercise don’t beat yourself up!
